THE PIXELEXR APPROACH
PIXELEXR is an independent film and visual effects studio built around end-to-end storytelling. Artist-led and proudly indie, the studio approaches every project with a story-first mindset — supporting work from early development through post-production and visual effects.
WHAT PIXELEXR MEANS
The name comes from two ideas: Pixel, the building block of every frame we create, and EXR, the high-dynamic-range format used in professional VFX and compositing. Together, PIXELEXR reflects a commitment to combining artistry with technical craft — in every project, from Vancouver to wherever the story takes us.

VELVET SECRETS
A Tamil-language short film written and directed by Shanthini Balasubramanian, exploring identity, curiosity, and connection through an intimate family lens. Selected for MAMM19 and the KDocsFF Sundar Prize Filmmaker Residency, and recognized at festivals across Canada, India, and beyond.

Shanthini is a Tamil Canadian filmmaker and VFX compositor based in Vancouver, BC. She writes, directs, and composites her own work — moving fluently between the creative and technical sides of production, and bringing that integrated approach to every PIXELEXR project.
